Easier than a pie and just as delicious.
Use tart fresh apples. I used about 6 Jonathans I got from the orchard yesterday.
Set the oven at 425º
Pare and slice 2 cups of apples
In a large bowl mix dry ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of white flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a small bowl mix wet ingredients
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup of butter melted and cooled a bit
Mix the wet ingredients into the dry.
recipe calls for an greased 8" x 8" square pan, but I used a ceramic pie plate.
dump in the apple slices, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
poor batter over top and spread to cover.
sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar
bake at 425º for 45 min.
serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
